As editor, Mikael Bertelsen has been behind programs such as Christmas in Vesterbro, The Boys from Angora, Talk to God, Omar Must Marry, Normalerweize, Wulffmorgenthaler, Dolph & Wulff, Stormslag, Clement Direkte, Jersild og Spin, Danes for Bush, Quatraro mysteriet and Det Røde Kapel. Mikael Bertelsen left his position as culture and entertainment editor at DR2 in 2006. December 2010, DR broadcast an adult Christmas calendar where Mikael Bertelsen walked the legendary pilgrimage route 'O Camiño de Santiago'
Together with Mads Brügger, he was channel manager at Radio24syv 2011 until the station closed in 2019.

Mikael Bertelsen is currently working on various media projects.
Most recently, he has started a series of programs called Det sidste ord. It is a Danish portrait program broadcast on TV2. In the program series, Mikael Bertelsen interviews famous Danes. The video material is archived at Det Kgl. Bibliotek and is edited and published shortly after the death of the person portrayed.
